Joseph C. Krymowski-Pope, aged 36, was found dead on June 10, 2015, at his home in Seminole, Florida. His death was ruled a suicide by a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. This tragic event occurred amidst an ongoing investigation into the murder of Charlie Enice Brooks (Madison), also 36, whose nude body was discovered in the Intracoastal Waterway near Pope's residence. Morgan, Colorado, to visit Pope, who was reportedly her childhood friend. Despite Pope's initial denial of knowing Brooks or having her at his house, neighbors reported seeing her enter his residence on the morning of June 7, 2015.
The investigation revealed significant evidence linking Pope to Brooks' murder. Detectives found numerous pieces of evidence near and inside Pope's home, including two trash bags containing a bloody rock, sheets, gloves, and clothing. Brooks had sustained blunt force injuries to her head, believed to have been caused by the same rock found at Pope's house. Blood was also discovered in and around Pope's residence, further implicating him in the crime. Before detectives could serve a search warrant at Pope's home, his sister reportedly ran from the house early on June 10, 2015, stating that her brother was dead.
