In the quiet town of Cheraw, South Carolina, a night in March of 2014 turned tragic for a young father. Jamal Gainey, a 25-year-old male, was fatally shot while sitting in his car outside of Jay's Tobacco on Second Street. The incident occurred on a Sunday evening as Gainey waited for two friends who had gone into the store to buy cigarettes. This everyday errand took a devastating turn when an unknown assailant approached the vehicle.
