On the night of December 5, 2014, in Goose Creek, South Carolina, Cordell Frazier, a 24-year-old man, was outside at his apartment area on Greenmeadow Drive when gunfire shattered the evening. Authorities said the shooting happened around 9:30–9:34 p.m., leaving him badly wounded where he fell outside his home.
Emergency crews rushed him by ambulance to Trident Medical Center, but the damage was too severe; he was pronounced dead at the hospital.
In the first public accounts, investigators indicated an autopsy was scheduled as they worked to pin down the full circumstances of what happened in those moments on Greenmeadow Drive.
The case was taken up as a homicide investigation by the Berkeley County Coroner’s Office and the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office. Even as the community tried to make sense of the violence, officials did not release information about the suspected shooter, and the available reports from that time did not name a suspect or announce any arrest connected to the killing.
In the days that followed, grief moved from the scene of the shooting into churches and family homes. A published obituary invited relatives and friends to a home-going service on December 13, 2014, at Azalea Drive Church of Christ in North Charleston, with interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Garden. It also noted surviving family, including his parents, Angelina and Michael Frazier, his son LaQuan Frazier, and his sister Raschonda Frazier—names that underscored how many lives were pulled into the wake of what happened that Friday night.
