On March 5, 2016, a violent domestic incident occurred in Bishopville, South Carolina, resulting in the death of 21-year-old Black / African American Kendra Grooms. Authorities responded to the scene in Lee County where they discovered that Grooms had been fatally shot by her live-in boyfriend, Malcom Holloman. The investigation determined that Holloman turned the weapon on himself immediately after shooting Grooms, sustaining two self-inflicted gunshot wounds in an attempt to end his own life.
