In what appeared to be a tranquil home in Bishopville, South Carolina, a grim tragedy unfolded on May 25, 2025, ending the life of 31-year-old Tanasia Parker. The young mother’s life was cut short in a violent act that authorities would later describe as a murder-suicide.
Tanasia was in a relationship with 51-year-old Jermaine Wesley, a man with whom she shared her home on Crystal Lane.
The couple had recently returned from a vacation in Miami, and to those who knew them, they seemed happy. Family members recalled seeing them in the days leading up to the incident and noted no apparent signs of trouble, making the subsequent events all the more shocking.
On that fateful Sunday morning, the peace was shattered when Wesley shot and killed Tanasia inside their residence. The act was committed in the presence of Tanasia’s four-year-old son, William. Following the murder, Wesley sent a chilling text message to his family, confessing to the killing of his girlfriend and stating his intention to take his own life.
When law enforcement arrived at the scene, they found Tanasia’s body in a bedroom and Wesley’s in a bathroom, both deceased from gunshot wounds. The Lee County Sheriff's Office confirmed that Wesley had turned the gun on himself after killing Parker. While the motive behind the violent outburst remains unclear to investigators, it was noted that Wesley had a criminal past, including a 2021 arrest for assault with a deadly weapon. Tanasia's family remembers her as a warm, outgoing, and funny person who was deeply devoted to her young son.
