In the quiet, early moments of December 3, 2020, the life of 23-year-old Shakimbra Kim Reames, a female resident of Bishopville, South Carolina, was tragically cut short. A mother of two young daughters, Reames was driving home after visiting a friend in the Lamar area. Shortly after midnight, as she came to a stop at the intersection of Sandy Grove Church and Cypress roads, her vehicle was struck by gunfire.
Despite being wounded, Reames bravely attempted to escape and called 911 for
help. Her efforts to flee ended when her car veered off the road and crashed into a tree behind an abandoned house. Tragically, she succumbed to the gunshot wound. Known affectionately as 'Kim,' she was a 2015 graduate of Lee Central High School and had a passion for hairstyling. Her family remembers her as a loving and forgiving person who cherished her family, especially her two daughters, who were left without their mother.
In the wake of the shooting, the Lee County Sheriff's Office, with assistance from the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division, launched an investigation into her death. However, the case has remained unsolved. As of late 2022, no arrests have been made, and no suspects have been publicly identified, leaving a void in the lives of her loved ones and a community still seeking answers. The killer of Shakimbra Kim Reames remains at large as her family continues to plead for justice.
