In the early morning hours of May 21, 2016, the body of 34-year-old Marcus Mandrell Posey was discovered on the side of the road in the 1100 block of Blue Ridge Terrace in Columbia, South Carolina. An autopsy would later confirm that the Columbia resident had died from a gunshot wound to his upper body. The Richland County Sheriff's Department launched an investigation into his death, which was quickly deemed a homicide.
