In the spring of 2018, the life of 24-year-old Dayton Rashae Hoefer was tragically cut short in Columbia, South Carolina. On the evening of April 26th, deputies from the Richland County Sheriff's Department were dispatched to Crane Creek Drive around 5:30 p.m. following reports of a shooting. The incident, which stemmed from an altercation, resulted in Hoefer suffering a fatal gunshot wound to his torso.
In the immediate aftermath, he was rushed to a local hospital by his friends, but he succumbed to his injuries.
The investigation into the shooting quickly identified a suspect, 30-year-old Tremaine Tavar Richardson. Considered armed and dangerous by authorities, Richardson remained at large for a short period. However, on April 28th, he voluntarily surrendered to the Richland County Sheriff's Department. Following his surrender, Richardson was taken into custody and subsequently booked on charges of murder and child endangerment in connection with the death of Dayton Hoefer.
Dayton, born on November 9, 1993, was a resident of Columbia. His sudden and violent death left a void in the lives of his family and friends.
