On September 14, 2024, Corey Johns, a 40-year-old resident of Lexington, South Carolina, was found dead in a shooting incident near Blythewood, just outside Columbia. The tragic event occurred in the 300 block of Koon Store Road, where Richland County Sheriff's Deputies were dispatched around 10:30 p.m. in response to a reported shooting.
