In the spring of 2026, a verbal altercation in Columbia, South Carolina, escalated to a fatal encounter, ending the life of 43-year-old Myron Schofield. On the afternoon of Tuesday, May 5, 2026, police responded to reports of a shooting in the 2000 block of Worthy Drive. Upon arrival, they discovered Schofield suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was rushed to a local hospital but succumbed to his injuries.
