In the autumn of 2025, the life of 18-year-old Black/African American male, Dion Briggs, was tragically cut short in a fatal shooting in Columbia, South Carolina. The incident occurred on the evening of Tuesday, November 11th, in the 1700 block of Nearview Drive. Richland County Sheriff's Department deputies responded to reports of gunfire around 7 p.m. and discovered Briggs unresponsive in front of a residence.
