In the early morning hours of a Sunday in October 2022, the life of 21-year-old Sean M. Hakeem Jr. was tragically cut short in a burst of gunfire. The fatal shooting occurred around 3 a.m. in the parking lot of an apartment complex on Killian Lakes Drive in Columbia, South Carolina. When deputies from the Richland County Sheriff's Department arrived at the scene, they found Hakeem with a gunshot wound to his upper body. Despite any efforts to save him, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
