In the late summer of 2019, the life of 15-year-old Jalen Qadir Islam was tragically cut short on the streets of Columbia, South Carolina. On the evening of August 12, police were alerted to gunfire in the 2100 block of Slighs Avenue. Arriving at the scene, officers discovered a car that had crashed into a tree.
