Anabell Luvaul Juarez, a 29-year-old mother of two, was last seen on January 27, 1997, at her residence on Chestnut Street in Odessa, Texas. At the time of her disappearance, she lived with her husband, Oscar, and their two young children. Oscar Juarez told authorities that Anabell left their home at 5:00 a.m. with an unidentified woman in a white pickup truck. He claimed she was pregnant by another man and was on her way to Ojinaga, Mexico, to have an abortion.
Anabell has not been seen or heard from since.
Anabell's mother reported her missing in mid-April 1997, nearly three months after she was last seen. Following the report, Oscar reportedly moved out of their Odessa home. Anabell's mother insisted that her daughter was in constant contact with her loved ones, a sentiment echoed by other family members who do not believe she would have willingly abandoned her children. The day before she vanished, Anabell had a distressing conversation with her sister in Florida, expressing unhappiness with her life and her marriage to Oscar. During this call, she mentioned that she might be pregnant but was unsure and could not afford a pregnancy test. Her sister had invited Anabell to bring the children and stay with her in Florida.
Anabell's family described her as a devoted mother and alleged that her husband, Oscar, was abusive towards her. Oscar has denied these allegations and maintains that he does not know what happened to his wife. He has described her as a good mother but also claimed she had multiple affairs and used drugs, which he tolerated as long as she was discreet. Her loved ones dispute this characterization and find it uncharacteristic of her to leave without any warning. They also do not believe she went to Mexico for an abortion.
Investigators suspect foul play in Anabell's disappearance and believe she may have been taken against her will. Since she went missing, there has been no activity on her credit cards or Social Security number. No arrests have ever been made in connection with her case.
