Further developments in the case led to a dramatic, multi-county pursuit of a second suspect, 30-year-old Hakeem Evans. The chase began when Mauldin Police Department officers attempted to pull over a vehicle driven by Evans. In a desperate attempt to evade capture, Evans carjacked another vehicle and led law enforcement on a high-speed chase that reached speeds of over 100 miles per hour. The pursuit finally concluded in Spartanburg County, where Evans abandoned the stolen vehicle and fled into a wooded area. He was ultimately found hiding in a creek and taken into custody.
