Sherman Robert Massey, a 59-year-old deputy with the Laurens County Sheriff's Office in South Carolina, tragically lost his life on September 20, 1977. Deputy Massey was fatally shot while attempting to serve a warrant related to a domestic disturbance. On that fateful day, he and two other deputies arrived at the scene to serve the warrant.
