In February of 2020, the quiet community of Chester, South Carolina, was unsettled by the discovery of a local man's untimely death. Terry Lee Jones, a 57-year-old male, was found deceased in his residence on Pinckney Road. Initial reports from the scene were conflicting, with some indication that the death was the result of a shooting. However, the official cause of death was later determined to be from a severe beating.
The investigation into Jones's death quickly led law enforcement
to a tense standoff at a different location on West Elliott Street. It was there that the victim's truck was located, and a suspect, identified as 42-year-old Scott Lewis Buckner, had barricaded himself inside a home. After a standoff that lasted for hours, law enforcement was able to take Buckner into custody.
Following his arrest, Scott Lewis Buckner was charged with the murder of Terry Lee Jones. In addition to the murder charge, he also faced charges of kidnapping, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and possession of a stolen vehicle. During the course of the investigation, it was revealed that Buckner had confessed to the killing of Jones.
