In the early morning hours of a Monday in late August 2020, law enforcement in Chester County, South Carolina, responded to a call regarding a possible sexual assault at a residence on Lowrys Highway. Upon their arrival after 2 a.m., deputies made a grim discovery inside the home. They found 40-year-old Cavis Simpson, a male, unresponsive in a bedroom.
Paramedics were called to the scene but were unable to revive him, and he was pronounced dead.
The investigation into Simpson's death quickly shifted to a homicide inquiry. An acquaintance of Simpson, 42-year-old Lillian Lorrain Tyndall, was arrested on the same day in connection with his death. Her arrest came after she made statements to law enforcement during their investigation. Tyndall was subsequently charged with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.
Following her arrest, Tyndall was denied bail during a court hearing and was held at the Chester County jail. The authorities did not immediately release further details about a possible motive or the specifics of the relationship between Tyndall and Simpson. Cavis Antwonne Simpson's passing was publicly announced by a local funeral home in Chester.
