On a Sunday evening in Aiken, South Carolina, on November 29, 2020, the life of 34-year-old TyQuan Maurice Graham was tragically cut short. Graham was discovered in a breezeway at the Palmetto Crossing Apartments on Sandlapper Drive, unconscious and not breathing. Law enforcement and emergency medical services arrived at the scene and rendered aid, but Graham succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the location, having suffered from at least one gunshot wound.
He was a father of four who had attended school in Allendale County and was known for his love of detailing vehicles and spending time with his family and friends.
For nearly three years, the investigation into Graham's death continued. Then, in July 2023, a significant breakthrough occurred when the Aiken Department of Public Safety, in collaboration with multiple other law enforcement agencies including the ATF and FBI, arrested 25-year-old Richard Lee Garvin Jr. of Fairfax, South Carolina. Garvin was charged with murder and criminal conspiracy in connection with Graham's death. According to arrest warrants, the shooting was a planned and executed retaliatory act involving Garvin and other conspirators.
The investigation did not end with Garvin's arrest. Authorities indicated that more arrests were expected as they continued to piece together the events that led to Graham's murder. In September 2023, a second suspect, 30-year-old Rahem Devoe, was taken into custody. Devoe was charged with Accessory Before the Fact to Murder. Investigators stated that the case remained ongoing, suggesting that others may have been involved in the killing of TyQuan Graham.
