Adam Tylor Fort-Grote, a 31-year-old Caucasian male, was murdered in his Winona, Minnesota, home on Sunday, October 18, 2015. The incident that led to his death began as a robbery at his apartment. Two men broke into Fort's residence with the intention of stealing money. During the course of the robbery, Adam Fort was shot in the torso.
The investigation into the homicide quickly identified a person of interest.
Authorities began searching for 23-year-old Lonnie Lavonte Keymone Hudson in connection with the murder. Law enforcement considered Hudson to be armed and dangerous and believed he might have been traveling with a woman and two young children. The motive for the home invasion and subsequent shooting appeared to be robbery.
Ultimately, three individuals were arrested in connection with Adam Fort's death. Lonnie Hudson was apprehended in Wausau, Wisconsin, after a brief foot chase. Another suspect, 18-year-old Reginald Burnett, was taken into custody in Rockdale, Illinois. An 18-year-old woman was also arrested on suspicion of aiding a suspect. Both Hudson and Burnett faced serious charges, including second-degree murder and first-degree aggravated robbery. Lonnie Hudson later entered a plea agreement, admitting to second-degree intentional murder and two counts of second-degree assault. Reginald Burnett also pleaded guilty to aiding and abetting second-degree murder and second-degree assault. The plea agreement for Hudson recommended a 30-year prison sentence, while Burnett's recommended a nearly 22-year sentence.
