Amahad Deshawn Darnes, 19, a Black male from Aiken, South Carolina, was found dead in the woods off Atomic Road in Jackson on Wednesday, December 23, 2020. The Aiken County Coroner's Office identified him after responders were sent into the area that morning, and he was pronounced dead at the scene from a gunshot wound. Officials said an autopsy was to be performed in Newberry as the coroner and the Aiken County Sheriff's Office worked to piece together what happened.
