In the quiet town of Aiken, South Carolina, a knock on the door just before Christmas in 2018 shattered the evening peace and ended a young man's life. Carl Donnelle Boyd, a 27-year-old male, was at his residence on Cherokee Street on the evening of Thursday, December 20, 2018, when he responded to the sound of someone at his door. What followed was a violent encounter that left him with a fatal gunshot wound.
