Donald Coolidge, a 41-year-old resident of Lugoff, was taken into custody shortly after the incident. He was subsequently held at the Kershaw County Detention Center as charges against him were pending. The investigation into the motive for the shooting was ongoing and involved the Kershaw County Sheriff's Office, the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources, and the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division.
Alan was born in Columbia and was the son of Rayford Lyn Ford and Delores Elizabeth Holloway. He was remembered for his enjoyment of skateboarding, fishing, and particularly playing the guitar. He also had an appreciation for motorcycles and old trucks. His funeral services were held on Saturday, August 14, 2021, at Powers Funeral Home in Lugoff, followed by a burial in Gates Cemetery.
