In the early hours of a Tuesday morning in May 2022, the quiet of Lugoff, South Carolina, was shattered by the sound of multiple gunshots at a gas station. When Kershaw County Sheriff's deputies arrived at the Kangaroo Express on U.S. 601 around 1:00 a.m., they found a tragic scene in the parking lot. Nineteen-year-old Dashaun Kirkland, an employee at the gas station, was found shot and had passed away from his injuries. Dashaun was a resident of Elgin.
