On August 17, 2024, 31-year-old Chelsea (Oldham) Barger was reported missing from Lansing, Illinois. Tragically, after 45 days, her body was discovered on October 24, 2024. Confirmation of her identity came on January 2, 2025, revealing that she had been murdered.
Chelsea was the daughter of the late Ricky Dale Oldham Sr. and Teresa Oldham of Crawfordsville, Indiana. She was also the wife of the late Lester Barger. Chelsea is survived by her 11-year-old daughter, Rose May Barger-Oldham, and her siblings: Amanda Dooley of Eldorado, IL; Ricky D. Oldham Jr. of Indianapolis, IN; Nicole Crews of Crawfordsville, IN; Shawnda Oldham of Michigan City, IN; Joshua Oldham of Shawneetown, IL; and Virginia Bergman of Equality, IL.
In the wake of this tragedy, Chelsea's family has initiated a GoFundMe campaign to raise funds for bringing her body home and arranging a proper farewell. The campaign highlights the family's desire to allow her daughter, as well as other family members and friends, to say their goodbyes. The family expresses gratitude for any assistance provided during this challenging time.
