Sergeant Robert Gene Kimberling, aged 43, tragically lost his life on October 6, 1999, in St. Joseph, Missouri, near Faucett. The incident occurred on Interstate 29 after Sergeant Kimberling stopped a motorist who had left the Farris Truck Stop in Faucett without paying for $24.69 worth of fuel. The motorist, identified as Jason M. Friske, was suspected of gasoline theft. During the traffic stop, a confrontation ensued between Sergeant Kimberling and Friske.
