In the early hours of a Sunday morning, a gathering of people in a Kansas City park turned into a scene of violence that claimed the life of 29-year-old Roberto E. Mejia of Kansas City, Kan. The group was near 8th and Jefferson streets, where the atmosphere was described as a party with people drinking, when an unknown gunman approached and began shooting just before 4 a.m.
