On February 27, 2018, Cornelius Copeland, a 37-year-old African American male, was involved in a fatal incident in Kansas City, Missouri. The sequence of events began around 4:30 p.m. near the intersection of 23rd Street and Denver Avenue. Authorities reported that Copeland had been driving a truck when he ran a stop sign and collided with an SUV. Following the crash, Copeland exited his vehicle and engaged in a confrontation with a bystander at the scene.
