In the early morning hours of September 3, 2023, Kansas City police officers responded to a call regarding a shooting in the downtown area. Around 3:45 a.m., authorities arrived at the scene near West 8th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue, a location situated within the city's historic Garment District. Upon searching the vicinity, officers discovered an unresponsive male lying in a park area who appeared to be suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.
