On the evening of April 12, 2015, violence erupted in a residential neighborhood of Kansas City, Missouri, claiming the life of a 25-year-old Black male named Raymond Lee Gordon. Officers from the Kansas City Police Department were dispatched to the 1500 block of East 77th Terrace after receiving reports of gunshots fired in the area. Upon their arrival, first responders discovered Gordon sprawled across the front yard of a home, suffering from critical injuries.
Gordon had sustained
fatal gunshot wounds during the assault and was found in a mortally wounded state. Despite the efforts of emergency services, he succumbed to his injuries. In the immediate aftermath of the shooting, investigators canvassed the surrounding area and located a second individual two blocks away who had also been struck by gunfire during the same incident. This second victim, whose identity was not released, was believed to have been injured during the initial volley of shots that killed Gordon.
In the days following the homicide, authorities struggled to identify a specific assailant. Detectives appealed to the community for assistance, urging anyone with knowledge of the events on East 77th Terrace to contact the TIPS Hotline. As of the initial reports detailed in local sources, no suspects had been taken into custody, and no charges had been filed in connection with the death of Raymond Gordon.
