Deontae Campbell, a 17-year-old from Kansas City, Missouri, tragically lost his life on April 5, 2019. Deontae was shot while driving away from the Landing Mall near East 63rd Street and The Paseo. The incident occurred after a confrontation between Deontae's passenger and a woman inside the mall. As Deontae and his passenger attempted to leave the scene, Tracy French, a 29-year-old man, fired a shot that struck Deontae in the head, causing the car to crash into a building.
