On the evening of September 18, 2018, a Black male named Jaquon D. Harris was critically injured in a shooting incident in Kansas City, Missouri. The 23-year-old, known affectionately to friends and family as 'Jayrock,' was transported to Truman Medical Center for emergency treatment. Despite medical intervention, he succumbed to his injuries two days later, passing away on September 20, 2018.
Harris was a lifelong resident of Kansas City who had attended Northeast High School and was
working toward his GED at the time of his death. He was remembered by his community for his dedication to service, particularly following the 2015 death of his best friend. In the wake of that loss, Harris had helped remodel a building that became a local community center. He was also an active member of the External Life Church & Family Center.
As of the most recent reports, authorities have not announced any arrests or identified any public suspects in connection with the homicide. The case remains classified as an unsolved investigation by the Kansas City Police Department, with no charges filed or legal proceedings initiated against any individuals regarding the shooting that claimed Harris's life.
