On May 29, 2023, at approximately 7:10 p.m., Kansas City police responded to a reported shooting in the 3300 block of Colorado Avenue. Upon arrival, officers discovered 24-year-old James Mondale Allen Jr. seated in a vehicle, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Emergency medical services pronounced him dead at the scene.
