In the autumn of 2023, the life of John Michael Buckley, a 50-year-old White/Caucasian male, was tragically cut short in his Kansas City, Missouri, home. On November 30th, police responded to a medical call at a residence in the 11700 block of Troost Avenue. Inside, they discovered Mr. Buckley in the basement, deceased from multiple gunshot wounds.
The subsequent investigation swiftly led to a person of interest who was taken into custody the same day.
This individual was identified as 29-year-old Gregory J. Foster, who resided with Buckley. According to court documents, the events leading to the fatal shooting began when Foster found a note from Buckley asking him to vacate the premises within three days.
In a confrontation that followed, Foster admitted to shooting Buckley multiple times while he was in the basement. Following the incident, Foster himself contacted 911, and though he expressed suicidal intentions, he was apprehended by law enforcement without further incident. Prosecutors in Jackson County have since charged Gregory J. Foster with second-degree murder and armed criminal action in connection with the death of John Michael Buckley.
