On a cold November evening in 2015, the life of 25-year-old Sharae Lanise Bradford was tragically cut short in her Ferguson, Missouri apartment. A relative, concerned after being unable to reach her by phone, made the grim discovery on November 28th, finding Sharae on her bed, bleeding profusely. Emergency services were called, but Bradford was pronounced dead at the scene from a single gunshot wound to the back of the head.
Investigators from the Major Case Squad of Greater St.
Louis quickly pieced together the events leading to her death. Evidence suggested a robbery, as both Sharae's phone and rent money were missing from her apartment. The investigation revealed that she had arranged to meet a man through Facebook for a sexual encounter in exchange for money. This man was identified as 20-year-old Stassie Greer of Jennings, Missouri.
Surveillance footage from the apartment complex captured Greer entering and leaving around the time of the murder. Further solidifying the case against him, a search of Greer's residence uncovered Sharae's missing cell phone. A witness also positively identified Greer from a photo lineup as the individual seen entering Bradford's apartment that fateful day.
Following the collection of evidence, Stassie Greer was arrested and charged with first-degree murder, first-degree robbery, and two counts of armed criminal action. He was held on a $1 million cash-only bond. The community mourned the loss of Sharae, a beloved mother to her young daughter, who was remembered for her kind heart and beautiful smile.
