On the afternoon of July 24, 2019, tragedy struck the Southwest Garden neighborhood of Saint Louis, Missouri. Around 1:30 p.m., local law enforcement officers were dispatched to a residence located in the 2600 block of Dalton Avenue following a call for police assistance. Upon entering the home, investigators discovered the bodies of two individuals who had sustained fatal injuries.
The victims were identified as 31-year-old Jill Jones and 56-year-old Robert Tucker.
Jill Jones, a female resident of the 4100 block of Beethoven Avenue, was found deceased at the scene alongside Tucker, who resided at the Dalton Avenue address. Early reports from the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department confirmed that both individuals had suffered gunshot wounds which led to their deaths. The homicide division and the medical examiner responded to the location to begin their inquiry into the violent double homicide that had shaken the community. Friends and family later remembered Jones as a vibrant social butterfly and a devoted mother to a young daughter.
Despite the immediate launch of an investigation, authorities faced challenges in identifying those responsible for the killings.
