In the early morning hours of July 5, 2016, a horrific scene unfolded inside a home in the Walnut Park West neighborhood of Saint-Louis, Missouri, leaving three people dead in a tragic double murder-suicide. Sixty-year-old Eunice Cain and her 59-year-old husband, Reginald Wilkes, were fatally shot by Cain's son, 44-year-old Kenneth Murray, who then turned the gun on himself.
Police responded to a call at approximately 3:50 a.m.
and discovered the bodies of Cain, Wilkes, and Murray inside their residence on Era Avenue. Investigators recovered two firearms from the scene. The investigation concluded that Murray was the sole perpetrator in the deaths of his mother and stepfather before taking his own life.
Kenneth Murray had a history with the law, including prior convictions for attempted robbery and armed criminal action. At the time of the deadly incident, he also had pending charges for trespassing and third-degree assault from an arrest the previous fall. As the identified suspect in the murder-suicide was deceased, the police investigation was concluded, and the case was closed with no further arrests made.
