In the early morning hours of February 15, 2016, Danesha Barnes, a 33-year-old woman, was found deceased in her silver Saturn in Saint Louis, Missouri. Responding to a report of gunshots just after 1:00 a.m., police discovered her vehicle in the 3700 block of St. Louis Avenue, where it had come to rest against a fence. Both of the driver's side windows of her car had been shot out, and Barnes had sustained a fatal gunshot wound to her neck.
Investigators determined that earlier in the
evening, Barnes had been at the Midtown Sports Bar and Grill on East Prairie Avenue. She reportedly left the establishment alone shortly before midnight. Her car was found just a few blocks from the bar.
Two years after her death, in an effort to generate new leads, the police released surveillance footage from the night of the incident. The video showed a dark-colored SUV closely following Barnes' car as she drove eastbound on St. Louis Avenue. The suspicious vehicle was traveling with its headlights turned off.
Despite the release of the video and continued investigation, no arrests have been made in connection with the murder of Danesha Barnes. The case remains unsolved, and authorities have continued to ask for the public's help in identifying the suspicious vehicle and providing any information that could lead to an arrest.
