On the evening of August 16, 2017, a drug transaction in Saint Louis, Missouri, turned into a scene of violence that claimed the life of 26-year-old Twanna Renee Adams. Adams, a female resident of Saint Louis, had accompanied two men to a home in the 5800 block of Wabada Avenue with the purpose of buying drugs. The situation escalated into a gun battle between the two men who were with Adams and another man who was on the porch of the residence.
During the exchange of gunfire, multiple
people were injured. Adams was struck by a bullet and later succumbed to her injuries at a hospital. In addition to Adams, a man who was in the car with her was also wounded. On the porch, two men sustained injuries; one, a 19-year-old, was shot in the hand and reported to be in stable condition, while the other suffered gunshot wounds to his arm and thigh.
In the aftermath of the shooting, law enforcement took all three suspects involved in the incident into custody. Authorities subsequently applied for warrants against these individuals, marking the beginning of legal proceedings in connection with the fatal shooting. The death of Twanna Adams occurred just four months after her brother, Darnell Duff, was also fatally shot in St. Louis.
