In the late summer evening of August 23, 2019, in Saint-Louis, Missouri, the life of 8-year-old Jurnee Thompson was tragically cut short by gunfire. Jurnee, an African American female, had been enjoying a high school football jamboree at Soldan High School. After the event, as people were leaving, a series of fights broke out, and shots were fired into the crowd. Jurnee was struck and fatally wounded.
