Mariel Encarnacion, a 9-year-old girl, disappeared from her home in Arvin, California, on September 11, 2011, alongside her 7-year-old brother, Luis. The siblings were last seen around 10 p.m. at their residence. The following day, a grim discovery was made: their mother, Mariela Mendizabal, was found brutally stabbed to death in their home.
