On the evening of March 29, 2015, a violent and targeted shooting in Saint Louis, Missouri, claimed the life of 26-year-old Angelica Wysinger, a Black/African American mother. The attack also killed her boyfriend, William Crume, who was 23 years old. The couple was in their vehicle with three children when the shooting occurred.
Just before 7 p.m. near downtown St. Louis, a silver vehicle pursued Wysinger and Crume's car and its occupants opened fire.
Crume, who was driving, was struck by bullets in the head and torso and died at the scene. Wysinger was shot in her left shoulder and hip and was transported to a local hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries. In the backseat, Wysinger's 9-year-old daughter was shot in the hand but survived. The other two children in the car, ages 7 and 2, were not physically injured in the attack.
Family and friends, who affectionately called her 'Jelly,' remembered Angelica Wysinger as a vibrant and caring mother. They were shocked by the violent act, stating she had no known enemies. The motive for the shooting remains a mystery to investigators, who believe the attack was not random. The St. Louis police investigated the double homicide and obtained surveillance footage from a nearby building that showed vehicles of interest. Despite their efforts, no suspects have ever been publicly identified, and no arrests have been made in the case. The murders of Angelica Wysinger and William Crume remain unsolved.
