On May 20, 2016, a violent confrontation unfolded at a residence in the 4600 block of Willow Avenue in Kansas City, Missouri, resulting in the death of 24-year-old Black male Tyrone London. The incident began on a Friday morning when Daniel L. Wilson arrived at the home to pick up the mother of his child and their baby for a scheduled appointment. London, who was in a relationship with the woman, was inside the home sitting on the living room floor changing a baby's diaper when Wilson entered
the property. The two men had a preexisting history of conflict, which escalated quickly upon Wilson’s arrival.
Witnesses reported that as Wilson went upstairs, he and London exchanged stares. Shortly after, Wilson descended the stairs wielding a handgun and verbally threatened London, stating his intent to take his life. In an effort to prevent violence in front of the children, London reportedly expressed that he did not want anything to happen in their presence. A witness attempted to intervene by trying to move London up the stairs, while the mother of Wilson’s child tried to get him to leave the premises. Wilson disregarded these pleas, pushed the woman aside, and fired multiple shots at London. After the victim collapsed, Wilson fired additional rounds before fleeing the scene in a white Monte Carlo.
Law enforcement officers arriving at the scene found London deceased in the living room from gunshot wounds. Wilson was later apprehended and faced charges including first-degree murder and armed criminal action. In December 2018, during the second day of his trial, Wilson pleaded guilty to reduced charges of second-degree murder and armed criminal action. On May 23, 2019, a Jackson County judge sentenced him to 20 years in prison for the murder conviction and five years for the armed criminal action conviction, with the orders set to run concurrently.
