On September 30, 2017, a 20-year-old female named Christina Jones was fatally shot during a confrontation in the St. Louis suburb of Ferguson, Missouri. The violent incident occurred late at night outside her residence, where she was seated in a parked vehicle accompanied by a male companion. As the pair sat in the car, a man approached them and began an argument that quickly escalated into physical violence.
The situation turned deadly when the suspect, identified by authorities as
21-year-old Calvin White, allegedly struck Jones’s male companion in the face. Following this assault, the passenger drew a firearm and discharged it at White. In retaliation, White reportedly ran to the rear of the vehicle and fired more than ten rounds into the car. Jones was struck in the head by the gunfire and died from her injuries, while her companion suffered a gunshot wound to the back and was transported to a hospital for treatment.
Following an investigation into the homicide, police arrested Calvin White. Prosecutors subsequently charged him with second-degree murder, first-degree assault, and two counts of armed criminal action for his role in the shooting death of Jones and the wounding of the male victim.
