In the winter of 2018, a promising young man's life was tragically cut short in Kansas City, Missouri. Christian J. Olivarez, a 20-year-old male, was found shot to death on the evening of December 30th in the front yard of a residence in the 7500 block of Oakland Avenue. The young man, who had moved to the Kansas City area from Kokomo, Indiana, in 2012, was remembered by loved ones as an avid athlete with a love for video games and a talent for making those around him laugh.

circumstances surrounding Olivarez's death point to a violent encounter. Police were dispatched to the scene after receiving calls about gunfire. Upon arrival, they discovered Olivarez with multiple gunshot wounds. It is believed that he had arrived in a white Ford Explorer and was then approached by two unknown individuals. The motive appears to have been robbery, as a green bank bag with a white Central Bank logo that Olivarez was known to keep under his driver's seat was missing and has never been recovered. His vehicle was found riddled with bullet holes.
