A male, Scott was at the Troost Market at 8001 Troost Ave. when an argument broke out with another man. The altercation spilled out into the parking lot, where a single gunshot echoed through the air. Scott was struck by the bullet as he was walking out of the parking lot around 8:30 p.m.
The shooter fled the scene, disappearing into a nearby apartment complex.
Emergency services arrived to find Scott critically injured. He was rushed to a local hospital, but his wounds proved to be fatal, and he died later that evening. The Kansas City Police Department quickly began an investigation into the city's latest homicide.
