In the summer of 2009, a violent encounter on the east side of Indianapolis claimed the life of 27-year-old Benitez Marcedonio. On August 1, 2009, authorities responded to reports of gunfire and discovered Marcedonio suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite the efforts of first responders, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
