On the night of September 11, 2019, violence erupted in the Walnut Park West neighborhood of St. Louis, Missouri, claiming the life of 21-year-old Marquise Larue-Hightower. The incident occurred late in the evening, approximately around 11:30 p.m., disrupting the quiet of the residential area. Larue-Hightower was in the 5000 block of Goodfellow Boulevard, situated near a local gas station, when he was targeted.
Witnesses in the vicinity reported a chaotic scene, describing a barrage of
gunfire that echoed through the streets. Accounts provided to law enforcement indicated that as many as 30 to 40 shots were fired during the attack. Amidst the confusion, onlookers observed three masked men fleeing the scene, suggesting a coordinated effort by multiple assailants. When officers from the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department arrived at the location, they discovered Larue-Hightower suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite the emergency response, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
