In the early hours of a Sunday morning in Kansas City, Missouri, a verbal exchange between the occupants of two vehicles escalated into a fatal encounter that ended the life of 32-year-old Matias Vallardo. On May 24, 2020, at approximately 1:00 a.m., outside a convenience store near the intersection of Independence Avenue and Hardesty, the brief and contentious conversation gave way to the sound of gunfire.
