In the early hours of April 13, 2022, the life of 37-year-old Keith Gorham, a Black male, was tragically cut short in a shooting in Kansas City, Missouri. The incident occurred around 3:15 a.m. at a residence near East 38th Street and Wabash Avenue where a house party was taking place. Officers who were nearby investigating a non-injury car crash heard the sound of gunfire and responded to the home.
Upon their arrival, they discovered three victims.
Two of the individuals had sustained injuries, while Gorham's were life-threatening. He was rushed to a local hospital but succumbed to his injuries shortly after. At the time of his death, Gorham was actively involved in plans to establish a family-owned trucking company, a venture his mother said is now at a standstill.
Described by his mother as a bookworm and a philosopher, Gorham was the eldest of four children and often took on a leadership role in his family. Though he had faced challenges in his youth, including a period of incarceration, he had earned his GED and various trade certifications while in prison and was determined to be a positive role model. His death was one of eleven homicides in Kansas City that week.
As of now, there have been no public announcements regarding any arrests or the identification of any suspects in the shooting that led to the death of Keith Gorham. The investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
